Fishing at Raehills, on Annandale Estate

Our Estate fishing is at Johnstonebridge on the upper part of the River Annan. Please go to www.fishannan.co.uk  for availability and bookings.

The beat is 5.5 miles long and has approximately 10 named pools. Much of it is among mature woodlands and pastoral land. The river is relatively narrow on this beat and responds best to anglers who can be very quiet on their approach to pools. Although on the upper part of the river, the relative shortness of the River Annan means that fresh salmon and sea trout are caught here (occassionally tide liced).

The best salmon fishing is from September onwards, whilst sea trout will be present in good numbers from June onwards. Spring can be very good on this water for very large wild brown trout (fish of up to 5lbs are not uncommon) and the winter months provide some excellent grayling fishing with fish up to 3 3/4lbs having been caught in recent years. The most successful fisherman on this part of the river are those that wade as little as possible and use the abundant bank side cover to their advantage.

Purchase 5 day tickets for yourself in one booking and receive the 6th day free. Please contact our Estates Office on 01576 470 317 or email mail@annandaleestates.co.uk for this offer once the 5 days have been booked.
