~ Welcome to Raehills ~

Welcome to Raehills, Seat of Clan Johnston(e) and home to the Earls of Annandale since 1780. Raehills is currently home to Lord Johnstone, son and heir of the 11th Earl of Annandale, and his young family.

The early part of Raehills was built by Stevens as a hunting lodge for Hopetoun House near Edinburgh. The four-tier design is said to mirror an Italian villa admired by the Earl of Hopetoun whilst on his Grand Tour. The house was extended by Burn in 1830 with the addition of the picture gallery and today’s front entrance.

Like the old days, we consider our home to be at its best when it’s full of guests, family and friends and a venue for parties. Dining is by candlelight and open log fires. Cigars can be savoured with an aged port before guests retire to the sumptuous comfort of four poster bedrooms, fit for a Lord.

Perhaps you’re thinking of staying with us because you have a Clan connection or wish to enjoy a hunting, shooting or fishing party with friends, or perhaps you have another celebration in mind?

Whatever your occasion, we now cordially invite you to come and experience, in an exclusive party of six or more, some of the best hospitality on offer and to enjoy our home.

Wishing you good health and happiness in 2008.

LORD & LADY JOHNSTONE.
